What is the best treatment of plantar fasciitis? Every free weeks there is unbearable pain in the heel. The pain is intermittent, every other minute for about 20-30 seconds. Cannot take NSAIDs. Hence take cocodamol but this doesn t help. The excruciating pain will just continue for 1-2 days and the. Go away again for week. Any ideas if this could be another ailment it what other treatment may help. Many thanks Sam

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear Sam,
The treatment for Plantar Faciitis varies for person to person. However, we need to eliminate the presence of a calcaneal spur by doing a simple Xray.
Then a small shot of a steroid in the base of your ankle will help in healing the plantar fascia and you will be relieved soon.
As of now, kindly change your footwear to MCR slippers and continue the same analgesics until you get time to visit an Orthopedist.
