Suggest Treatment For Pityriasis Rosea Causing Dark Spots All Over Body

I have had pytiriosis rosea for over 3 months now. It looked like it was going away as the spots became darker but then i got more new ones. I have been sunbaking for 10 minutes each day, i use a steroid cream and i moisturiser with coconut oil. I dont get itchy, only in the first week i got them. Its all over my thighs legs stomach and back. Even on my backside and front. I initially got them on the inside of my arms but didnt get the new batch there. Please help!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pityriasis rosea causing dark spots all over body which postulated to be caused by virus which could be due to increased skin sensitivity and compromised immunity of body. Need not to worry. It is a self limiting condition. I would suggest you to:-

- Apply cold compresses to the affected area .

- Topical steroid application helps in symptomatic relief .

- Avoid sun exposure .

- Drink plenty of water .

- Take over the counter anti allergic drug like benadryl or zyrtec .

- Apply broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 even if you are not under sun exposure.

If symptoms doesn't get better in 3-4 days consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment . Doctor may prescribe steroids or hydroxychloroquine.
