Suggest Treatment For Pigmentation In Upper Lip And Skin Under The Nose

Hi, My problem area is around my mouth. My upper lip and skin under the nose are dark compared to my cheeks. To top it, i got a scar just above the corner of my left lip, dur to heated wax ( this is there for a year now) . I also have got a chicken pox scar near to the below my right lips.After using loads of mederma, Vit E oil etc, ther is not much of improvement. Being a woman, it is very embarasssing for me . Could you please suggest me some good alternatives? ( There are not very deep or large and hence am not sure if cosmetic surgery is required)

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pigmentation in upper lip and skin under the nose which seems to be due to excessive exposure to sunlight leading to postinflammatory hyperpigmentation. It could be due to allergic reaction as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with antiinflammatory medication. You should drink plenty of water to rehydrate body. Use cream containing kojic acid or azelaic acid , both are very good in treating dark complexion and safe for long term use. Beside that apply broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 to protect your skin from further darkening due to UV rays of sun. Apply topical antiallergic ointment as well and apply sunscreen rich in SPF 26 such as TANCARE. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined. Start treatment after proper prescription.
