Suggest Treatment For Phlegm Stuck At The Back Of The Nose

Feels like a ball of phelgm stuck in the back of my nose where it meets my throat. I can't swallow it down and it won't come up. Blowing my nose doesn't help either. It just remains no matter what. Also I have recently gotten over a common cold and that's when it started. How do I get rid of this?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

If you have recently got over cold then a feeling of ball of phlegm stuck at the back of the nose can be due to mucous plug formed at the back of nose in naso-pharyngeal region..

Also it can be due to infection in your sinuses..

So my suggestion is to first of all try decongestant sprays like Xylometazoline and oral Phenylephrine..
Take mucolytics like Ambroxol..
You can also do steam inhalation as it can loosen the mucous and ease off drainage..
Use a humidifier in your room..

If there is still no improvement in a week consult an Emergency room and get a clinical examination done..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
