Suggest Treatment For Phelgm In The Throat And Cold

I have phelgm in the throat right above Adams apple I am 22 now and while sleeping it irritates I am hypothyroid with tsh of 2.3 this month wen checked and dosage given was 50mg and last month dosage was 75mg as my tsh was 26. And just from two days I am having a bit cold like I sneeze when I drink water and even wen I sit I feel irritable I m the throat to breath can u tell my problem!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have phlegm in the throat and cold ,which is due to bacterial infection leading to strep throat. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene. You should take Diphenhydramine and Dextromethorphan for 4-5 days. Post nasal drip can also cause such symptoms. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should take you take nasal decongestant sprays, antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present .Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day. Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. Throat lozanges one every 4 hours is helpful. Drink luke warm water throughout the day as it can provide relief. The symptoms can also occur due to condition like sinusitis . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper checkup which the help of CT scan and get prescribed antibiotics . Taking steam will be helpful.
