Suggest Treatment For Persisting Diarrhea

Hello
I have had diarrhea for about 2 1/2 years now, and a dull ache in my lower right side of my back. It feels swoolen and sensitive. I react poorly when people touch me there. I have been seeing a naturopath who has helped my to eliminate foods that are commonly hard to digest, with variable results. I'm also avoiding dairy and eggs. I'm now taking probiotics and omega 3 as well.
I'm really not better and have stated to worry. What are your thoughts?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of having diarrhea for about two and half years, dull ache in lower right side of back which feels swollen and sensitive, react poorly on touching this, Naturopath helps to eliminate foods that are known to digest hard. Avoiding dairy and eggs, taking probiotics and Omega 3 as well. not getting better hence getting worried.
As per the history you have provided, this needs to be investigated properly as follows as the problem is persistent for the last two and half years.
I would advise you the following:
Tests of stool for three consecutive days.
Tests of blood particularly for thyroid and liver functions.
Colonoscopy.
CT scan of the abdomen.
Clinical evaluation by a Gastroenterologist for clinical correlation with the reports and get you treated accordingly.
Continue avoiding the foods and beverages that cause such a problems.
Till then continue probiotics and Omega 3.
If all the investigations are within normal limits, the possibility of IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome and hence the treatment will be symptomatic.
Then control of anxiety and stress is very important factors.
I find this answer helpful
