Understanding your concern. As per your query persistent persistent sore throat and fever which seems to be due to infection of upper respiratory tract leading to inflammation of tonsils . Upper respiratory tract infection can be caused bacterial or viral . Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with warm saline gargles and betadine gargles 3-4 times a day. For pain and swelling you should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen as you already taking . Avoid cold, sharp , spicy food product , do warm saline rinses and carbonated beverages. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like strep throat and viral infection . Doctor may order order throat swab test and viral culture test .
