Suggest Treatment For Persistent Sore Throat And Cough

I have had a sore throat for two weeks now. It is extremely painful and seems to be located on only one side of my throat and it changes sides every few days or so. I've also had a persistent cough and started out having cold symptoms like a runny nose. There's also been a loss of appetite and fatigue. I went to my doctor, who tested me for strep but the test came back negative. What could be causing this and how can it be treated?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain the symptoms of sore throat along with cold, runny nose, loss of appetite and fatigue seems to be due to viral infection or upper respiratory tract infection..

I would still suggest you to start taking a course of antibiotics like Levofloxacin or Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Advil, take decongestants like Pseudoephadrine and mucolytics like Ambroxol..
Antiallergics like Levocetrizine has to be taken..
Do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Chew Vitamin C pellets and suck throat lozenges..
In case of no improvement in a week consult and Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
