Suggest Treatment For Persistent Fever And Vomiting

My daughter had about three days of fever and vomiting (her father gave her no medicine apparently-- not even ibup/acet for fever--they were camping). Now she has excessive burping. Is slightly lessened with peptobismol, and her pediatrician gave her a prescription antacid (1/2 tab every morning) Pepto seems to have the most effect. Burping almost always follows meals. Lasts hours if not treated (at which point she starts to feel nauseous. We also had fecal test (they were drinking water treated with tablets) but the results are not back yet. Stool seems normal though once it was grey.

Hello,

By your history and description, possibility of intestinal infection is more likely in your daughter. So better to wait for stool report. Continue with an antacid.

She might need antibiotics (for infection) and antipyretic (paracetamol) for fever. Tell her to drink plenty of fluids orally, eat only freshly home-prepared food. Don't worry, she will be alright.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
