Suggest Treatment For Persistent Elevation In The BP Level

my blood pressure has been extremely high for years sometimes reaching 209/130 not to often. but it usually runs 180/96plus and my doctors cant seem to find the right meds. a family member suggested garlic tablets. my question what causes this and how can i get it under control. I am a 52 yr old african american female

hello, it would be really helpful if you could have specified the composition of drug/ meds you were consuming. persistently elevated bp can be due to multiple reasons. there can be poor compliance from your side too, in terms of not adhering to treatment regimen. It can also happen in case you are consuming tobacco or smoking or taking nicotene or other stimulant drugs (substance abuse) or even alcohol in moderate quantities everyday. you need to strictly look after your diet, you need to reduce daily salt intake, carbohydrate and fat consumption and increase roughage or fibers in your diet. try to add certain other classes of medications into your treatment regimen and try to stick to it.
