Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cramps In The Hands

Hi, when i write (a few sentences), type on a computer/phone, grip ahold of a book or even braid my hair my hands cramp up and cause pain. At times they even lock into place. I try to crack my fingers or squeeze them but the pain only goes away temporarily. My question is, is there any way to make it stop?

Hello,

It seems to me you are Hypocalcimic, due to the the hypocalcimia you are having cramps or tetanic attack on hand. But the cramps in hand can be other causes as dehydration, fatigue, vitamins and minerals deficiency, hand injury, pregnancy and medicines, muscle spasm, and over use.

Before the treatment you get, you must have to know the exact cause of these involuntary contraction or cramp. Take massage therapy with any warm oil on that affected area. Take hot water fomentation, put your hand in warm water filled tub until the warm water gets cold. It helps in relaxation of muscles.

Do some lighten stretching exercises so that the muscles get flex if spasm is there. Do some isometric hand exercises like pressing the foam ball. You have dehydration take plenty of water. Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day. Although if you are not getting the relief get some blood test and consult the ortho or neuro.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ankur
