Hi,

I guess your concern is pain during intercourse? Dyspareunia - is the medical term for pain during intercourse. Infections of private part of either wife or husband is most common cause for this problem. As you have shared the info that you had herpes too. Its a sort of infection. But you have not shared when you were tested positive, what medicines you had, whether it was treated successfuly. So I cant comment on whether herpes is causing this problem or not?

You have not told whether you are newly married or not? It usually normal for newly married couples to have pain during sex. You have not told how frequently you have sex? If you have sex after a certain gap, usually there would be pain only during initial time of sex, and it goes smoothly (you have told after 3 minutes pain goes away).

As the information for above questions is not shared by you, I cant comment what exact problem you are struck. Anyways, I would like to suggest:-

1. Use jelly or lubricants before having sex. Usually it will solve your problem. If still there is no improvement, follow suggestions 2nd and 3rd number.

2. Visit a nearby gynecologist to examine your private part region to confirm there is no infection at present (as I told any infection in female part can cause pain during sex)
3. Though you don't have infections at your private part, but sometimes it may be transmitted from your husband's private part. Take your husband along with you to nearby gynecologist to cross check whether he has any infection?

I hope this information was useful, informative and helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sudha Rani Panagar
