Hello,

You are suffering from painful shin bone due to injury. You also have an open wound and the bone hurts. You are suggested to visit ER, get X-ray shin bone done to detect any stress fracture, fracture shin, injury on the ligaments, tendons, etc. You may have to get CT or MRI done if required. Get it clinically examined by an orthopedist.

Your open wound needs to be cleaned, stitched(if required) and antiseptic dressing done. You will be given anti-inflammatory and antibiotics for the wound to heal faster and to get rid of pain and discomfort. Your treatment will depend on the type and severity of injury.

At present, stay at rest and do not put weight on the affected leg. Keep the affected leg elevated on a pillow when on bed and on a stool while sitting. You can take NSAIDS, Naproxen or Combiflam, after food to get relieve from pain and soreness.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
