Suggest Treatment For Painful Hematoma On Neck Post A Face Lift

I had a face lift on May 10. Now I have a hematoma on my neck which goes across my left side to my adam s apple and when touched, is a hard lump the size of a finger. At first I used ice and after 2 days switched to warm compresses and massage which my surgeon recommended. He also said that time will heal and that patience is necessary. My concern is that it is still painful and has not diminished in size. Thank you for any advice you can provide!

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of painful hematoma on neck post a face lift. It seems to be due to injury to vessel or soft tissue during surgery which is very common cause for your condition. It could be due to injury while giving anesthesia .

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Do alternate warm and cold packs over hematoma as it will heal it eventually.

- Maintain proper posture to avoid fluid accumulation.

- Apply Thrombophob gel and helps in faster disrupting of the hematoma as it contains Heparin Sodium

- Take anti inflammatory painkiller Advil and it is required only if pain is there.

I would suggest you to consult your doctor/ surgeon if condition doesn't get improved for proper examination. Doctor will examine physically to check hematoma tenderness and consistency. Doctor may drain the hematoma or may prescribe anticoagulant .
