Suggest Treatment For Painful Burning Mouth Syndrome

Hello. I have been suffering with burning mouth syndrome for the past several months. I have tried several things to try to alleviate the pain but they either don t work or only offer temporary relief. Do you have any recommendations and what natural or vitamin remedies are you aware of for this condition. Thank You Christine

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern....

As per your complain Burning Mouth Syndrome is a painful condition in which there is burning pain inside mouth and is caused due to a number of reasons like Dry mouth as caused due to disorders related to salivary glands like trauma or nerve damage and in Sjogrens syndrome if also associated with dry eyes, nutritional deficiency like low levels of iron and vitamin B, infections like Thrush,Stress, Acid reflux, hormonal changes, medicines that lowers blood pressure etc while at times there is no underlying cause..
The best way to get rid of it is to get treated if there is any underlying cause and get the medicines changed if it is causing the problem..

As a part of preventing the exaggeration of symptoms you should avoid Hot and spicy food, tobacco chewing as well as smoking, alcohol consumption, alcoholic mouthwashes and intake of citrus and acidic juices and liquids..

Taking a multivitamin everyday and a nutritious diet containing green leafy vegetables and pulses..

Taking saliva substitutes like Artificial saliva containing methyl cellulose can be instilled multiple times in mouth for lubrication in case of dry mouth.
You can also suck on sugar free candies as it will help in stimulate saliva flow in case of reduced saliva..

Suck on ice pops and gargle or drink cold water throughout the day as it will relieve burning and pain..
gargling with a numbing mouthwash will also relieve the pain..

Gargling with soda bicarb dissolved in water can help in reducing the acidic environment and provide relief..

Reducing stress and anxiety by doing meditation and yoga can be helpful..

Hope this information helps..
