Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

Well you need to understand that shin is one of the strongest bone in the body, and also incredibly painful when hurt. The strength of the bone has to be high because it has to bear the whole weight of the body when we stand or walk.
As it was badly kicked , the possibility may be that you may have developed a bony injury or you may have developed a soft tissue injury. In either case, you are going to develop pain and swelling of the affected parts of the body.

It is best to test the leg involved with an x ray of the part. The x ray will help us know if there is a fracture or a not. The further management will change accordingly.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
