Suggest Treatment For Painful And Tingling Hand

My husband has numbness, tingling and pain in left thumb and forefinger since a nurse s attempt to start his IV on Feb. 2 prior to his total hip replacement. She had barely poked through the skin of his left wrist but must have pierced a nerve because extreme pain shot into his hand causing numbness and tingling of his whole hand. He has recovered well from his surgery but continues to complain of his hand (and he is unfortunately left handed). Whenever he drops his wrist down it causes pain. My question is will this heal on its own or should we be seeking medical intervention? We do have a post op visit with family Dr. coming up on Feb. 18.

HI
Well come to HCM
If this is just because of the injection needle trauma peripheral nerve damage then this would be fine on its own, but it is advisable to rule out other possibility because this may not be due to needle trauma, nothing to loose if you just get done the clinical examination, hope this information helps, take care.
