Suggest Treatment For Painful Abrasion On The Perineum

I suffered an abrasion on my perineum recently. After several days of treating with triple antibiotic ointment I spiked a high fever and started having severe swelling in the area and went to a doctor who prescribed amoxicillin 875mg PO BID. Later that day the swelling had moved up my inguinal folds a short ways and then over onto my pubic mound. This morning (after two doses of my antibiotic the swelling has continued to spread down into my scrotum. My testicles are neither swollen nor in pain, but the skin on the entire front half of my scrotum is very edematous. Thoughts on what s going on or what I should do? I m without insurance so seeing a doctor again is fiscally not something I can do.

Hi,

It can be due to secondary infection to that abrasion. Start taking antibiotics, NSAIDs, and improve hygiene.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
