I am a high school student and a journalist for my robotics team i am constantly writing for hours at a time everyday i am experiencing pain in my right wrist the same that i have in my left but that is due to a overgrown bunch of nerves from playing violin for 13 years. Do i have carpal tunnel in my right wrist from writing too much like this for 2 years?

Hello,

Carpal tunnel syndrome includes some of these symptoms like numbness tingling, and pain in your thumb and the first three fingers of your hand, pain, and burning that travels up your arm.

Wrist pain at night that interferes with sleep weakness in the muscles of the hand. if you feel only pain in your right wrist I suggest you take a break.

If you feel better and no more pain the reason is overwriting. If pain persists you should take an appointment with your doctor and to relieve the pain you can take Ibuprofen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
