Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Head Around The Ear
I have pain in my head around the right ear. Had my ears suctioned to remove wax. Visited the dentist and have sensitive teeth but no decay. Hearing ok. Pain increases with exposure to cold. When driving get a feeling of numbness in the ear lobe. Pain in back of my head going down my neck. Stiffness in movement.
There are several possible causes of a headache behind the ear but considering that you feel numbness in the ear area and the pain radiate down to your neck, I can suggest that the root cause can be occipital neuralgia. Occipital neuralgia happens as a result of pressure or inflammation to the occipital nerves. It typically only appears on one side of the head.
In some cases, it is not easy to identify the cause and for this reason it is necessary to do a MRI or blood test to further confirm or rule out diverse causes of the pain. I suggest to consult a local neurologist for the right diagnosis and the appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Elona Xhardo, Endocrinologist
