Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you for posting your query at healthcaremagic.com
Due to age there is always a degeneration happening, if the body weight is on higher side it always put the pressure on back and knee(especially).
Hot water and pain killer will help in reducing the pain. But she has to do regular exercise to maintain the muscle strength of both the joints.
If her weight is on higher side, weight reduction will help her for long way.
After this also if it continue to pain, get MRI reports done and seek opinion from orthopedic doctor for further course of action.
Exercise which you could do are-
Knee-
Isometric of knee- Roll the towel and place it under the knee. Press the knee for 15 counts and relax. Repeat. Do this exercise 10 minutes or/ and multiple times in day.
Back-
Isometric of back- Roll the towel and place under the lower spine. Bend you knees. Press the spine against the towel for 15 count and relax. Repeat. Do this exercise 10 minutes or/ and multiple times in day.

If you have any further query please feel free to contact me, I will be happy to assist you.

With best wishes,
Dr. Tehzib Saiyed
