Suggest Treatment For Pain In Elbow

Hi - I hit the outside bone of my right elbow on a doorframe about 2 months ago. Approximately one month ago, the bone started causing me pain when my elbow is in different positions. It sometimes wakes me up at night (I m a side sleeper and tend to bend my arm at the elbow and tuck it under my pillow). It has been painful to lift moderately heavy items with my right arm. Should I see my physician about this, or could it just take longer to heal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, Welcome to Ask a doctor services. I have read your query.

Since you are having pain in the elbow after injury, you can apply a crepe bandage( not very tightly bound) for relief. You can take analgesics or NSAIDS to get rid of the pain.

Do not massage. Visit a GP, get an X-Ray done to rule out any fracture. Hope I have answered your question. Take care.

Dr Nupur K
