Suggest Treatment For Pain In Back When Diagnosed With Chronic Heart Failure

My mom is 71, she s been an alcoholic, is on medication for high blood pressure and has had three TIA s over the last two years. She s just been diagnosed with Chronic heart failure and her GFR has dropped from 56 to 35 in two weeks. She s weak, almost lethargic, (was walking a week ago but not now), much pain in middle of her back and some swollen legs. What s going on? Had her in ER today with don t know what s wrong .

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is understandable to be concerned since this is a significant drop in a short period of time, it is possible that it may be due to a reversible change.

She would need to repeat imaging of the kidneys and other areas of the urinary tract and may also need a biopsy of the kidneys to see if there are any significant microscopic changes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
