Hello I workout a lot squating a lot of weight. My right knee has been bothering me for almost a week and doesn t seem to go away. It hurts to bend and it s hard for me to put pressure on it when it s bent. Also when I have it extended it hurts to touch it right below the knee cap. Any idea if it sounds like something serious or something where I should just take it easy?

Suggest Treatment For Pain Below Knee Cap
Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! I would like to know if it is swollen or warm, when touching it. These may be signs of bursitis, which is an inflammation of the soft tissues surrounding the bones of this joint. Another disorder would be a ligament or meniscal laceration or injury. I recommend consulting with the orthopedist for a careful physical examination, a routine blood test for inflammation and a knee joint x ray. If suspicions are raised during the above examinations, a knee MRI may be necessary to establish the possible diagnosis. Hope to have been of help! Best wishes, Dr. Iliri
