Hallow Dear,

Since you have landed in anaemia post surgery, you have been completely drained out and fatigued.

Due to the iron tablets, you have developed swelling in your stomach (gastritis) which is causing you pain in the stomach. To get rid of this pain, you may have to discontinue the iron pills for a while and protect your stomach with some antacids. Ibuprofen and Flucloxallin will worsen this pain.

Usually, iron tablets are not to be protected by any antacids lest impaired absorption of iron. However, now that you are in acute gastritis phase, you will have to discontinue these pills and take antacids for some time. Once your gastritis is treated, you may start the iron pills again; however, opt for time released spansules of iron which will not lead to gastritis again. Alternatively, you may switch over to injectable iron.

Iron does give the stools dark to back colour. It is due to the iron in the stools. You need not be worried about it.

Currently, take only band diet to soothen your stomach.

Please report to Obstetrician.

I hope this helps you.
