Suggest treatment for pain and swelling in wrist and elbow

I was subjected to an electric shock today through my left hand and arm. My symptoms are pain, slight swelling and regididty in my left wrist and tendons extending up to my left elbow. How long will this last and what can I do to help it heal faster? This happened at work.

You are lucky that you do not have any heat-related symptoms in electric shock. As far as your symptoms are concerned, it will depend on the strength of shock.

But as a normal expectation, we expect a recovery in about 3-4 weeks time, if there is no major damage. The acute problem should be over in about 10 days. You can take painkillers and muscle relaxants for faster relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

About three weeks ago I started getting pains in both wrists, my thumbs and one elbow. More recently there has been a swelling on wrists and hands. Most mornings I find it difficult to do anything requiring strength with hands or wrists and rather painful. This wears off to some extent as the day progresses. I am a male aged 75 years, very fit and not overweight. I have high blood pressure controlled by medication, Haemochromatosis controlled by periodic venisection and Dupuytren s Conractures. Could this be anything other than arthritis? For example RSI due to computer use and frequent cycling with multiple gear changes engaging thumbs or accumulation of iron in the joints due to haemochromatosis? Many thanks

i banged my elbow over a week ago. There was little pain after the initial hit, but the elbow swelled like I had a tennis ball under my skin. The following day I had a bruise extending to my wrist and up to my armpit. Little pain, some tenderness in the forearm and swelling at the wrist. Now the swelling has subsided and the huge dark bruise is fading, but I m getting pain, mostly at night,in cycles, that is intense enough to wake me.
