Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Ankle And Knees

Dear Sir/Madam, I am 28 year old male with a body wt of 93 kg and height 182 cm. Since last 2 years i feel mild pain in my left ankle. it has now swollen a bit since last 6 months. I met a general physician one and half year back and again another physician 4 months back. second physician referred for uric acid test. it was 6.3 at that time. He told me it is mainly because of my body wt and at the same time he suggested me to reduce my protein intake. I started working out (jogging 1 km + brisk walking 4 km/day and mild excercise at home on home gym, 30 min/day)to reduce my body wt and at the same tym changed my food habit from fried and dip-fried foods to boiled veg and fruits and bread (chapati). Additional physical activities include 1 time coocking (60 minutes, standing position) and to and fro walk from home to office (2+2 km).Body wt has also reduced from 98 kg to 93 kg. But now-a-days the pain is more frequent, specially when i wake up in the morning and now i feel little pain in my knee also. In my job some time i m sitting whole day in office and some time i have to supervise the job standing 1-2 hours. i wear light sports shoe with physiotherapic insole and light sandle. Please help and suggest what i have to do.

Hi,

You need more reduction in weight. start working on that. The swelling can be a reactive inflammatory swelling which can be due to multiple reasons. You need more workup, blood investigations and then a treatment can be planned.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sushil Vijay, Orthopedic Surgeon
