Suggest Treatment For Pain After Knee Replacement Surgery

I have just had a knee replacement and of course am in pain I have been taking paracetomol and codeine but have become constipated and fun out of codiene the doctoe has given me tramadol but on reading the paper inside am a bit worried about taking it as I am also 81 years old a bit wobley what do you think the side effects of tramadol seem very worrying valerie

Hi,

You might want to try topical Pennsaid which is a specially formulated product for deep absorption of an anti-inflammatory drug. It works wonders by soaking deep into the surrounding tissues to decrease inflammation and pain. It is a little on the pricey side but I believe it is the best topical on the market. When your knee is sore sit down and raise your leg and put a cold compress on it to reduce swelling and ease the pain. Use the Pennsaid as needed throughout the day.
