i have no period for almost three months. a week ago, i started bleeding every morning. then stop a few hours after, i thought it was period. but last for 9 days. i have an ultrasound check, shows that i have a slightly septated cyst in my ovary mearasured 2.2*1.8*1.6 cm. i do have a little bit pain on my lower left. i am worried that it is cancerous. what should i do next?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Ovarian cyst is known to cause irregularities in menstrual cycle. Based on the ultrasound report, it cannot be determined weather it is cancerous or not. The treatment for it is to get it excised by means of surgery. The same tissue would be sent for histopathalogy examination, which would tell what type of the cyst it could be. If it is benign, then it is non-cancerous and does not require any treatment other than regular follow-up. If the report says it is cancerous, then treatment has to be instituted accordingly. Kindly consult Gynecologist for appropriate management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
