Suggest Treatment For Ovarian Cancer

About a month ago my mom had been diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. She had the hysterectomy two weeks ago, during which it was discovered that the ovarian tumor had attached itself to the colon, so 6 inches of the colon were removed. The surgeon noted that there is more cancer on the outside of the colon, but did not remove it. About 10 days after the surgery fecal matter started coming from the wound (some of the staples had been removed a few days prior and the wound was left open) and from her vagina. They put a colostomy bag around the wound to collect the fecal drainage and are giving her antibiotics. The surgeon tells me that because of the cancer on the colon and because my mom is weak, he does not think it’s wise to perform surgery now and would rather send her home with a leaky colon and start chemo, then if the cancer lessens, he would perform surgery. I stated that I was concerned about sepsis, to which he said that the risk is very low. I asked why he couldn’t attach a colostomy bag in a place with no cancer, to bypass the leaky colon, but he said he couldn’t. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you. Bon
