Suggest treatment for opiate addiction

Hello, I am recovering from opiate addiction. I am taking Buprenorphine and have been prescribed clonazepam for nineteen years for OCD and related anxiety and insomnia. I take 16 mgs. Of Bup. Daily and 1mg. Of clonazepam. I also have been diagnosed with stage IIIa melanoma. I agreed to be weened off my clonazepam at the beginning of my Bup. Induction as the prescribing MD didn t feel comfortable with the combination of the two medications. Now, with the Cancer DX I am not prepared to go through the inevitable withdrawal from long term benzodiazapine treatment. I am trying to find another doctor. Any suggestions?

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
First, the cancer is not necessarily curable and could be fatal and have painful complications along the way. One might want to hold off any decisions until that is determined and prognosis is estimated. Then, long term benzodiazepine being tapered down can be quite significantly risky and might require 2 or 3 days of inpatient observation, but should not be a long time to have the taper.
First, get an oncologist. second, oncologists often prescribe and manange a lot of controlled substances. then there are the other issues.
