Suggest Treatment For Numbness In Toes

I have numbness in my toes on both feet. I have had trouble with falling metatarsal arches for many years and wear orthotics to relieve toe pain however I have not often had numbness. My father had toes amputated due to peripheral neuropathy and eventually had numb legs up to the knees. Can you help diagnose my problem or direct me on how I can narrow this down to a diagnosis. In other words I am not too worried if it is just a symptom of falling arches but I am very worried if it is peripheral neuropathy.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Numbness is likely due to peripheral neuropathy, one of the causes is trauma which may be related to the falling metatarsal arches affecting the nerves in the area.

Other causes of peripheral neuropathy include: (1) diabetes
(2)vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(3)liver or kidney disease
(4)side effect of medication
(5)exposure of toxins
(6)neurological conditions- stroke, ms
(7)thyroid disease
(8)idiopathic- cause not known

Blood tests for liver , kidney disease, folate and b12 levels, thyroid function tests can be done to see if any of these are related to your symptoms , if they continue.

I hope this helps
