Suggest Treatment For Numbness In The Ear

Yes, please. My right ear is numb and I have no hearing in that ear. It is now pinging. I have been on antibiotics for 3 weeks and went to a clinic yesterday and the doctor said there was no sign of infection or blockage. It is driving me nuts. The Dr. put me on Zyrtec and told me to keep up the antibiotics. Any suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The causes can be as follows:
- Damage to the nerve
- Adherent tympanic membrane
- Disease of vestibular and cochlear apparatus

This can be diagnosed through a consultation with an ENT surgeon as he only can clinically evaluate you the best. Audiometry will help to know the cause of loss of hearing. CT with MRI as combo-study of the ears will tell any other problems. All these will give a proper diagnosis and thus allow a proper management. Get these things done as early as possible.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
