Suggest Treatment For Numbness And Tingling Sensation In Tongue

I have been experiencing numbness, tingling, and a burnt sensation on my tongue for about a month and a half. It feels as if I have eaten a bag of popcorn with nothing to drink behind. I began to feel this sensation after having 2 titanium rods implanted in my mouth and using peradex a few days before and after the procedure. Even though I try to avoid salty foods, but tongue ALWAYS feels like I have eaten a lot of salt. My tongue looks normal. My dentist prescribed me a steroid rinse. It relieves the feeling for about 30 minutes after use.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain numbness, tingling and burnt sensation on tongue seems to be due to burning mouth syndrome..
Burning tongue/mouth syndrome is a condition in which there is burning sensation inside mouth and can also be associated with a scalded feeling and can also experience numbing sensation..
It can occur due to a number of causes like nutritional deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, dry mouth or xerostomia, stress, acid reflux, side effects of medicines etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and investigations like blood tests can be advised..
Treatment of underlying cause will resolve the symptoms..
As of now to get relieved you can start gargling with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
Take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Avoid spicy foods and take a soft bland diet..
Suck ice pops..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
