With my cousins i did the salt and ice challenge, twice just different days The first time i did it with small ice cubes and a little bit of salt it turned red but faded away a little bit....but it is still here and that was a week ago Today i did it again with more salt and a larger ice cube now this is a big red welt on my arm and the skin is completely numb..right after I did it my skin was frozen to where i had to run it under hot water to unfreeze will the numbing go away and how long will the marks last?
Hi thanks for choosing HCM, Numbing of skin due to ice is called FROST BITE. It is injury of that part due to ice and salt. Here salt will lower the temperature further down, result narrowing the blood vessels on that area and reducing blood circulation to produce numbness. It is also one type of protective phenomena to divert the blood to vital organs to keep your body alive. Treatment is Immediately remove the ICE from that part. Rewarming that area by drencing that part into the tolerable heat water for some time. Don't rub that part, it will produse blisters. Thank you.
