Suggest Treatment For Nose Bleed, high BP And Headache
My 79 year old mom has had a bad nosebleed all day (1:30 am to 4:42 pm now). We took her to the ER where they put balloons in her nostrils to stop the bleeding then sent her home. She is having trouble breathing because blood is still going down her throat. She can t eat and even drinking water is difficult. Her blood pressure is 146/103 even after 2 5 mg doses of amlodipine besylate. She has a headache with a pain level of 5. We can t get in to see an ENT to remove the balloons & cauterize the bleeding for another 20 hours. Is there a point where she should return to the ER? She is very stressed out because my dad is bedridden from a fall and she is his primary caregiver although we have been helping as much as we can.
I can understand your concern . With old age blood vessels become fragile with thinning of their wall.apart form this nasal mucosa has very rich blood supply and these blood vessels start bleeding with minor injuries or stretch or increased blood pressure . It's an ENT emergency and she needs supervision till the bleeding stops completely with adequate blood pressure control.in my opinion if bleeding is still continuing you should go to an ENT specialist and remain in his supervision. Hope this will help.
