Suggest Treatment For Night Sweats And Excessive Sweating While On Microgynon

Hi I m 29 and on microgynon 30, i have been for about 9months, i didn t get a period when I took my 7 day break last week, I honestly haven t been the best at always remembering to take the pill but always do before I have sex with my partner, the last few days I have been feeling lightheaded and honestly my emotions are all over the place, one minute I m happy, the next I could cry or I m irritable. Life has been stressful lately and I find I m getting anxious more and most nights I dont sleep a full night without getting up to urinate, over the weekend I got up 4 times in the night to go. I sometimes get night sweats and they can be to the point my top and pillow are wet. Lately my appetite has been less then usual I find myself sometimes full on half of a meal. I have heard about perimenopause just today and I am concerned that I might be displaying the symptoms even though I am not even 30 and no kids. Does it sound like it? Can my gyno tell me if I have it through a regular visit or is there a test I should ask him to perform? I anxiously await your response. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

These are nonspecific signs but may indicate some problems and in most cases is related to physical stress, sudden changes in positions from lying down to standing up, or as a result of consuming caffeine-containing beverages, tobacco, alcohol, etc.

In this case, they do not have any medical underlying cause, and there is nothing to be worried about.

However, if this concerns you and is happening to you repeatedly then some tests should be done which include:

- a complete biochemical panel
- blood glucose, liver function enzymes, kidney function tests, electrolytes
- a complete thyroid panel - TSH, fT3, fT4
- a complete blood count
- an EKG

Depending on the results of these tests, further tests and treatment may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
