I had a procedure to remove varicose veins on my legs in July. I started to experience tenderness and pain in my calfs. After seeing the doctor and under going test, they determined that I have nerve damage in my legs. He suggested that it could be from knee or back problems I had many years ago. However, the tenderness and throbbing pain started AFTER the vein removal surgery. How serious is nerve damage to my legs? Is it easily treatable? What's the treatment?
Yes, superficial cutaneous nerves maybe damaged while doing open surgery for varicose veins.I t will take about three months for the nerves to regenerate.
