Hi, I had a cervical ct scan done for neck pain that showed a ill defined soft tissue mass at the base of the tongue on the left extending into the adjacent parapharyngeal soft tissues highly suspicious for malignancy. I am 46, non smokr or drinker. I do have a sore throat on the left with lump feelings when I swallow. I dont have an obvious neck mass as I am a big guy(350lb). My ent scoped me and said my tongue and throat area look asymetrical. He is sending me to another ent within the VA system for a second look and possible biopsy as our clinic in not equipped to do them. Is this covering a pretty big area and if so, I am worried about my options as I have a pacemaker, chf, sleep apnea. Should I insist on a biopsy?
