Suggest Treatment For Nausea And Stomach Infection

Hey doc, so about 6 weeks ago I experienced an event which left me a little concerned. I went to bed not feeling so great, felt nauseated and just not 100 percent. My husband was also suffering from stomach flu during that time was tossing and turning making it difficult for me to fall asleep. I remember doing my best to not get sick in bed, and then I briefly lost consciousness and started convulsing. My husband said it sounded like I was gasping for air. I came about after 1 minute and felt fine afterwards but felt a little anxious about what had happened. I also had a slight buzzing sound in my ear that last about 20 seconds after regaining consciousness. I didn't bit my tongue or lose bladder control, and I didn't fall into a deep sleep aftwrwards. The next day I felt completely fine and even played in a tennis match. I had a similar event that happened 10 years ago, and had the whole neurological work up done including MRI EEG, and CT scan, and everything came back normal! I'm 36 year old female mother of 2, Very active, spin every other day along with running and yoga. What do you think is going on with me?!

Dear patient,
what you had was a seizure episode. It is absolutely not necessary to have any findings on these investigations and the occurence may happen once in many years. but pls understand that each convulsion shall damage some minute portion of your brain. plus it may come anytime, even while playing or driving, hence the probability of an accident. Hence it is advisable for you to start on an antiepileptic drug, just one, in a low dose regularly so that you are free of any probability of seizures. also try and keep your stress levels low with yoga, exercise and meditation as stress and anxiety also precipitate seizures.
