Suggest Treatment For Multiple Sclerosis

I was diagnosed with MS in 1992. Now I am 57. Most of my sclerotic plaques on my spinal cord. Now what exists for someone with primary progressive MS? I have a great will to live beside the fact that I am forced to live (?) In a nursing home? I did: Betaseron Avonex w/methotrexateof course all of this starting with sol Medrol. Is there anything?? YYYY@YYYY

I read your query carefully and I really respect your positivity and strength of will.

You say that the diagnosis that you have been given is primary progressive MS. I must say that unfortunately there are not many steps ahead for that type of MS. While for the common relapsing-remitting form there are several new therapies which influence the course of the disease, in the case of primary progressive type all these new treatments have unfortunately shown disappointing results in the trials. For now treatment apart from what you have already tried remains limited to medication to alleviate symptoms.
Multiple sclerosis is a very active field of research though, so one never knows what the future will bring, new medications might become available.
