Suggest Treatment For Mild Astigmatism In Both Eyes

hi
I have recently been diagnosed with 'mild astigmatism' in both eyes. I have been trialling some Toric lenses also.
I have over the last 2 days had an excruciating headache which seems to be around my left eye socket, forehead and also around the gum area of my upper rearmost teeth [albeit there isn't any swelling or sharp pain radiating from my teeth when I tap them with the end of a spoon]. if I touch/press my left eyeball it feels very bruised, however when I press on my right eyeball there is nothing.
My prescription on my left eye was diagnosed as -2.00 and my right as -2.25, I have for years worn the same brand of lenses and both eyes were previously -2.00.
thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Astigmatism is managed by toric lenses.
Any increase in power of lenses is usually associated with headache, thus, headache should be followed by re-checking for refractive error.
Pain which is around the left eye, forehead, gum area of upper teeth is unlikely to be due to increase in power.
Associated bruise and pain indicate that there may be some kind of trauma to the eye and surrounding area.
I suggest you to consult your ophthalmologist for clinical assessment, investigations and thus management.
Refraction also needs to be repeated to look for any change in power of lenses.

Thanks and take care
Dr Shailja Puri
