Suggest treatment for microscopic colitis

I have had pain in the lower right quadrant of my abdomen for five days. After a CAT scan, the ER Dr. diagnosed with microscopic colitis, but I do not have watery diarrhea. I am on cipro and flagyl. My mother had spastic colon and was on donnatal 40 yrs ago. Does it make sense for me to take these meds?

Hello,
Welcome to health care magic,

If you have already been diagnosed microscopic colitis by CT scan or any other pathology reports, you will need to take appropriate antibiotics what your doctor has given tab.ciprofloxacin and tab.flagyl with symptomatic treatment irrespective of your mother's spastic colon.

You will see gradual improvement in your lower abdominal pain with this antibiotics.

So,better to do regular follow-up at your treating physician.

Regards,
