Suggest Treatment For Lump On Shoulder

A 3 lump on my left shoulder ( back side of neck) has been diagnosed as Lipoma and surgery under general anesthesia was advised. Is it possible to remove the contents of the lump by some sort of suction/drainage through a key hole under local anesthesia and leave the sack as such so that the fat accumulation/deposit may continue there instead of some new place. My worry is that the fat which is now settling in lipoma may settle else where-in a new lipoma,in blood vessels etc.

Hello and welcome.

No, a lipoma has to be removed completely with the sac or else it can recur. The same fat cannot go elsewhere and get deposited, this is not cancer and only cancer cells work the way you have described. Do not worry, and just follow your doctors orders.

Best wishes.
