Suggest Treatment For Lump On Head Of A Child After Injury
My son fell and hit his head on the door jam of my car 2 days ago. It instantly brused and swelled. Now he has a small lump under the skin where he hit his head (behind the ear) He is 6 years old. He says the lump does not hurt. It is about the size if a bean but is not super hard.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. The lump which has formed on the head post-injury is possibly due to 'hematoma', which is nothing but clotted blood collection underneath the skin. Generally, it is harmless and is not painful. It would take about 4 to 6 weeks to resolve and get cleared on its own. You can give him medication containing Ibuprofen and Paracetamol for a week after food, which would help to recover early. Take care it doesn't get infected. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
