Suggest Treatment For Lump Near Navel After Hernia Repair

I have a lump near my belly button due to a hernia repair a year ago. The doctor thought the lump was due to the pressure on the mesh repair. Had a CT scan and it revealed some fatty tissue has separated and this is the cause of the lump. He left a message on my phone that I could have this fatty tissue removed if it bothered me. I don t like the way it looks or feels, kind of feels like half of a small egg. Now I m not sure really what to do. I m 55, 6 tall, 209 pounds.

Hello and welcome.

You should know that the fat tissue there will not really cause you any harm. The real question you should be asking your doctor is whether the fat tissue will grow back in the region once removed. If not, then it would be nice to weigh a little lighter don't you think? If not, then I don't see the point of getting it removed over and over again.

Best wishes.
