My husband is 64, 4 days ago had lower back pain on right side, now groin pain and some numbness. Temp is 97.1 and doctor gave him CIPRO last night with pain meds. With the new situation of numbness and lower body temp...has slept all day, I am concerned. Should I return to ER with him?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your husband having lower back pain on right for 4 days and now groin pain, given Cipro with pain medicines, now there is numbness and lower body temperature he slept all the day, wants to know whether to return to ER.
As per the history you have provided, you should take your husband back to ER as the numbness and altered lower body temperature with backache is indicative of spinal problem and I would advise you the following:
Clinical evaluation, examination and MRI of the lower spine to find about slipped disc and so on.
I would also advise him to take strict bed rest till the investigations of blood, urine, stool and ultrasound is done.
Continue Cipro at twice a day dosages give added on medicines as would be advised after reports.
I find this answer helpful
