Suggest Treatment For Lower Abdominal Pain And Nausea

Today I had a really bad stomach ache in the lower abdomen followed by diarrhea. Now I feel nauseous, my stomach keeps burbling, and every once in a while I would burp. Ever since about a year ago, I ve had these symptoms almost every few months. I ve also had a history of consuming Chinese herbal medicine almost daily for irregular menstral cycles. My stomach problems seem to have started after this, so I don t know if it s connected.

Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Yes, it is possible that they are connected. Certain medications have side effects and some others can be unsuitable to you.

*how old are you?
*how long have you had irregular cycles?
*Do you have any children?
* do you smoke or consume alcohol?
*what is your height and weight?
*do you have any other medical issues or take any medications?
*any history of surgery?
*do you have any other symptoms like fever, body ache? Weight loss? Back ache?

I recommend :
- stop these Chinese herbal medications.
-a physician consult and an OBGYN opinion.
-ultrasound abdomen
-blood tests (complete blood count, Thyroid stimulating hormone, iron levels, prolactin levels, follicle stimulating hormone and Leutinizing hormone levels, estrogen and androgen levels, lipid profile and blood sugar levels
-stool analysis to check for amebiasis and parasites.

Based on this we can make a diagnosis.
In the meantime maintain a healthy diet :
-have smaller but more frequent (every 3 hrs) meals during the day.
-have plenty of water. Avoid during and right after mealtimes. If required, small sips are OK.
-avoid spicy and oily foods.
-avoid sugar and milk during diarrhea.
-have yougurt with active cultures.
-take food s rich in zinc or a supplement for 2 weeks.
-check to see if these Chinese herbal medications are prone to cause diarrhea or other side effects. Or if there are certain things you need to avoid while taking those medication..

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health.
