Suggest Treatment For Lower Abdominal Pain After A Medical Abortion
I had a medical abortion for a 17 days pregnancy counting from day of intercourse. Prior to medication scan couldn t spot the embryo. I felt a bit of discomfort on lower right abdomen when pressure was applied during scan. Went back for a scan 2 weeks after medication and bleeding, and some blood clots were seen. I had an aspiration today but was warned that since nothing was seen in scan at 17days, ectopic pregnancy shouldn t be overruled. Very scared now and it s getting to my head on what symptoms to watch out for. I m having gases too and feel bloated. How painful on a scale from 1-10(highest) is a neck or shoulder pain? How probable is it that I have an ectopic? It s a month now from intercourse.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Yes, your symptoms suggest possible ectopic pregnancy OR pelvic inflammation. Both the conditions need immediate help of a gynecologist. Please don't be scared. An early intervention would prevent further bad effects. Please do not press or massage. Do not foment the part. Go to the ER for immediate help, investigations & timely specific management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
