Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just went to my Dr. and I have had what he just diagnosed as a lip lesion on my bottom lip for about 6 weeks. I am going to a plastic surgeon in 2 days to get a consultation. What is a good questions should I be asking and is a plastic surgeon the type Dr. I need to go see next?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a lesion on lower lip can be an ulcer or a cold sore, it can be a wart or even a fibroma, pyogenic granuloma and at times cancerous like Basal cell carcinoma depending upon the shape, size, tenderness, duration of occurrence and appearance and discharge.. You can ask a Plastic surgeon about the cause of the lesion like whether it is due to infection or some trauma, the nature of lesion that whether it is cancerous or non cancerous, duration of healing and type of treatment that has to be carried out like surgical or non surgical..
You can also consult a Dermatologist or an Oral Physician and get evaluated as they are also experts in diagnosing such conditions and you can get treated accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
